“So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.”

1 Corinthians 13:3 MSG

Life is all about love.

Rick Warren writes, “Because God is love, the most important lesson he wants you to learn on earth is how to love.” Love is the foundation from which every command is given by God. God wants us to do everything in love.

Is this even possible?

It’s easier said than done but this is why in the coming week we will look at the growing process of becoming more like Jesus. We’ve already spoken about the starting point being God and God is love so the first love is God’s love for us.

Love is to be expressed to everyone and the starting point from which we grow in that love is our love for the family of God. It is our love for people who share our faith that is the greatest witness of our faith. We will be known as followers of Jesus because of our love.

“Love cannot be learned in isolation.”

Rick Warren

We grow in community.

Finding belonging in a family of faith is vital to us living out our purpose. Connection with other people gives us opportunity to grow in every aspect of our life. Do you want personal growth? Connect your life to others. Even the “others” who are irritating, frustrating and imperfect … just like you and I.

Through community we learn three important truths:

  • The best use of life is love. Love should be our top priority, primary objective and greatest ambition. People are the true treasure and relationships our most valuable assets. God tells us that relationships are what life is all about. I want to live my life where it is less about what I need to do and more about who I need to be with. Love is eternal. A noble life is one that leaves a legacy and that legacy being one of love.
  • The best expression of love is time. Time is a great measurement of how much value we place on something or someone. If we want to know where our priorities lie, have a look at where you spend your time. Time is the one thing that we all have an equal amount of. We can’t make more time. “When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you’ll never get back” says Rick Warren.
  • The best time to love is now. Don’t wait. If you have the opportunity to love now, then do it. We do not have a guarantee of tomorrow, all we have is now, use it for love.

The best use of life is love.

Summary

Remember – Life is all about love.

Key Bible Verse – “For everything we know about God’s Word is summed up in a single sentence: Love others as you love yourself. That’s an act of true freedom.” Galations 5:14 MSG

Pray – Father, may I know your love more now than I did yesterday and may I grow in love with others more now than yesterday.

Much Love
